Learn how the Government can help you get a higher education.

The Government does and will continue to pay around 50% of your undergraduate degree through a Commonwealth supported place. And with a Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS) loan (also sometimes known as a HECS-HELP loan) covering the remaining amount, you pay zero course fees up front. You only begin paying your HECS loan once you’re earning above the minimum repayment threshold–over $50,000–through the tax system.

Under the Government’s planned reforms, Government subsidies and HECS loans will continue to be available, plus there are plans to extend fee subsidies to even more students. Learn more at our Changes to higher education page.
